On Tuesday afternoons, there is a bit of a buzz around as some familiar smiley faces enter The Anchorage Centre and disappear up to the upstairs lounge.  If like me you are curious about what is going on, you will find a warm welcome from the group of people who get together to socialise whilst being creative.  Some paint, some do colouring.  You are welcome to bring whatever creative art you enjoy to the group and join in.

There is a cup of tea or coffee and a biscuit or two if you are so inclined, but bring your sense of humour, your talent and settle down for a sociable afternoon.

There are opportunities for the painters amongst this group to have their work printed.  Usually we have an in-house exhibition and choose 13 pictures for the TASS calendar.  These calendars have travelled far and wide.  This year we are breaking away from the traditional calendar.  We are producing cards and notelets with the help of local printers, Ottery Press.  The cards and notelets which feature our artists’ work will then be sold to raise funds for TASS to keep our work going.

Why not come along and join our artists and if you have never drawn or painted before, then try your hand at something new, you may surprise yourself.  Now for the science bit!

Over recent years there has been a growing understanding of the impact that taking part in the Arts can have on health and wellbeing.  By supplementing medicine and care, the Arts can improve the health of people who experience mental or physical health problems.  Engaging in the Arts can promote prevention of disease and build wellbeing.  More can be found at www.artshealthandwellbeing.org.uk

If this is something you would be interested in, then please contact The Manager on 01822616958 for more information, or just come along on a Tuesday and Friday afternoon from 2.00 p.m.
