TASS is an organisation which provides services to enable people to get out and about and to engage with our community. However, as an experienced charity working with older people, TASS also realises that people can become isolated following a life changing event. We can provide a flexible befriending service including:
- Visits to you at home when you are no longer able to get out and meet family and friends. These visits will last from 1 to 2 hours a week.
- Confidence building visits helping you to regain confidence and reintroducing you to those activities and friends you miss following a life changing event.
- Weekly telephone conversation keeping you in touch with local events and news.
When we receive a referral an initial visit is arranged with our Befriending Co-ordinator. We will have a chat with you about what service would be right for you.
Armed with this information, we will research the best service and volunteer to befriend you and we will then arrange for an introduction.
If you think you know someone who could benefit from this service or perhaps it is for yourself, then please do not hesitate to get in touch with us on 01822 616958, we will be happy to hear from you.
All these services rely on volunteers giving their time to help others. We would be unable to function without them.
Therefore, a befriending match may not happen immediately. We will always try to get the right match as a priority so it is important that we have the right information to begin with.
If you have been a recipient of our service, you may like to become one of our ambassadors or champions. These are people who have overcome difficulties and wish to help others to do the same. If this is something that you would be interested in, then please contact the Manager on 01822 616958.
